Where does time fly to?!!

The last 10 days seem to have flown by, but so much has gone on here!
Terry's leg seemed to be healing up, but then started going red round the edges. Back to the doctor, who gave him THREE lots of antibiotics and sent him for an x-ray. Off to the hospital...not bad, only had to wait 20 minutes! The results will be 2 weeks though...let's hope it's not broken!!
Hmmm, 3 lots of tablets, all with different admin requirements!
Lot 1: 3 tablets, 4x daily for 3 days...before food
Lot 2: 2 capsules, 4x daily for one day...before food
Lot 3: 1 tablet, 3x daily...after food
Lots 1 & 2 then go to 1 tablet/capsule 4x daily
Lot 3 stays the same throughout...
It took me and my daughter 45 minutes to work out a schedule for them and put them all into a weekly medication box!
We got there in the end and I've set alarms on his phone to remind him! He got them on Monday and seems to be on track...so, so far so good!
I'm not putting any pictures of his leg on here...I think the one I did post was enough!!
He did manage to do a few cuts on the patio side of the garden...the rest will just have to wait until his leg is better. Mind you, it's not like we've had real BBQ weather, is it?!!

This is an old Apple Crate I got last year. It was at the place where my shop was, but I hadn't got over there to pick it up. I gave it a coat of varnish and tried it in the garden with an Angel in it. I might try it with a similar Angel, but she's lying down...
(When the garden's finished, the wall will be cleaned up with a wire brush!)

Our Garden is Blooming...

I couldn't wait any longer...Terry hasn't been able to cut the slabs and finish the garden as his arm and leg are still hurting from when he launched himself off his ladder at work!!
However, I wanted to add a splash of colour to it...
Off I went up to the Town Centre and bought armfuls of fake flowers!!
I got home and arranged them...Obviously it's not the final thing, but it's made such a difference...and Terry likes them, as they are 'low maintenance'..!!!

I put some in the Milk Tin...what a difference!

I put some in one of my old Chimney Pots...

Some in an old Crock on the Sewing Machine Table...

Terry put up a bracket for my Hanging Basket...

And voila...instant garden!!
And very low maintenance too!!
We haven't done anything to the fence, as we've got a roll of thin Bamboo to go along there...

I took a close-up of my Toadstool...
Dan and ZoƩ bought it for me years ago...it's so cute and I love it!

And here's a sneak preview of the astro-turf we're having...
We chose the one with little 'dead' bits of grass in it, as it was the most realistic. It's soft like grass and is really amazing! It cost £340 for the area we're doing...BUT...
by the time we had bought the turf, lawnmower etc plus having to water, feed, weed and cut the grass, when this is laid, it will be Job Done...easy~peasy!!

To Skip or not to Skip...

I just had to show you this picture...
I'm sure you will agree...there's taking the pee and taking the pee, but this has got to be THE best ever...mind you, I would say it's only 'making do...'

And besides...why pay for a 12 yard Skip, when a 4 yard one will do...

Nearly Back To Normal...

Terry went back to work yesterday, overdid it, won't admit it!!
His elbow was hurting last night, so I guess he was wishing he had taken it a bit easier! His hip is not so bad now, just a big black bruise! He said the worst thing is those gashes on his leg. Where the skin is knitting together, he said it feels tight...plus where he hit the ladder, all the muscle and tissue was dented right in...he just squeezed it back into shape (!) so it will be bruising around that area that's giving him jip now...
He said he's going to do the cuts on the slabs tonight...I said we'll wait and see how he is when he gets home from work!! He's fed up with the garden not being finished and just wants to get it done now!

I bought an Aluminium Billy Can and an Enamel Milk Tin from e-bay...
They came this morning and I sat them next to my 100 year old Cart Wheel. I'm not sure if they will stay in the garden yet, although I think they look good there! I've also bought a big old Milk Churn, which I've got to collect...
I'll post pictures when I get it...watch this space!!

Superman Hits Stanford Le Hope!!

No new pictures to show you...well, not of the garden anyway! Terry had an accident at work on Friday...he fell 6' off a ladder! He landed on his right hip and elbow and gashed his right calf...he was in a right state when he got home! His elbow has got a big hole in it and underneath his forearm there's a big graze. His hip has got a lovely big bruise on it and I had to get my forceps and peel the skin back on his calf! He was in a lot of pain and I was sure he's broken a bone somewhere! So...we trotted (rather hobbled) off to A&E (it took me 3 hours to get him there...he must have been in agony to have gone, but to save face told me 'I only came to stop you nagging'...yeah, right!!) Four hours, 6 x-rays, a tetanus, 2 dressings and antibiotics later, we got home. Thankfully, nothing was broken, but he jarred his whole body and started to stiffen up. Then came the swelling! His right arm was nearly as big as his head and his wrist looked like his thigh! His ankle was really swollen too...poor old thing! He has rested for 3 days, but tried to keep mobile, as he was getting backache. It's been a killer for him to keep still, as he's always doing something!

This was as his elbow started to swell...note that sexy gown...I don't know how I held myself back!! If you're squeamish, don't look at the next picture!!

I'm glad I peeled the skin back, as it helped it start to heal. We left the dressings off yesterday and it's nearly all scabbed over now. Terry's a diabetic, so we had to be careful...
For the height he fell, I can't believe he didn't do himself more of a mischief, bless him! He was more upset at not being able to go to work and do the garden than he was his injuries!!
So the garden will just have to wait. Mind you, I did say he should just do the pointing and not cut any slabs. He just gave me a look...

Where did Summer go?!!

Terry got the rest of the slabs laid last night, so now there are just the cuts round the edges to do...not sure if he'll get them done tonight, as it's pouring with rain today...Summer's over!! At least the rain's washed the dust off of the slate, so it's more pink now!!
We'll have quite a big patio area, as the slabs measure 450mmx450mm...In English, that's about 18" square...making the patio roughly 10' x 12'...it will be plenty of room for the new Table & 6 Chairs we've got. We'll be able to stand up and not have the chair hit the wall or fence!

This is the view from upstairs...

Patio Slabs Started...yeahhhh!!

Terry started laying the Patio Slabs last night, but it started raining, so he had to stop..!! Here's what he got done...

When he's laid all the whole slabs, he's got a lot of cuts to do. The slabs that go up to the railings only need 40mm cut off! And I don't envy him having to do the cuts along the fence!
He said he'll do more tonight, so I'll post more pictures later...
Have a good day!

August Already?!!

Can't believe August is here already...next thing we know it will be Christmas!!
Wanted to post the new pictures of the garden...Terry worked hard on it yesterday (I pitched in too!)

We collected our Patio Furniture...it's being stored at a friend's house!
We couldn't wait and put the Chimnea together...the Chinese know how to crisp up a duck, but instructions...nah!! We got there in the end...

First Floral Addition! I'm not very green-fingered, so let's see how long it takes me to over-water it, forget to water it or drop it moving it!!

Plum Slate being spread by Mr Rake there! We actually spread it out with our hands, which was easier as you could just place pieces where you wanted them!

View from upstairs...

Same view on the 10th of June!! What a difference eh?! I'm glad I took these pictures, otherwise all the hard work never gets seen!

Who says men ain't artistic?! Eat your heart out Tommy Walsh!!
Do you like the little Mole Terry put in the chimney pot?! And he calls me the soft one!! I think we both wanted to put some bits on there, as it's been a tip for so long!!

My Old Singer Sewing Machine Table!
I've had this for around 20 years and love it! It needs a new coat of paint, as there are rusty bits on it...it will look as good as new!

Edging Blocks being laid...these are for the fake 'grass' to butt up to, which will give it a better finish...can't wait to see the grass laid, it looks so real...and just think...no mowing, no weeding and no watering!!

All the Blocks have been laid...the 2 slabs are for the BBQ to stand on (don't want to ruin the new grass!)
The next step is those 20 bags of sand to go on top of the black stuff and be compressed with a whacker machine...if Terry doesn't dehydrate at work, he said he'll do the sand tomorrow (it's actually tomorrow now, but only 1am, so a bit early to put the whacker on!!)

As you can see, there's been progress made! Terry has had to go to work, plus finish building a toilet/shower block at the lake where he fishes (and put up with my moaning about it!!) AND do the garden! I'm really proud of what he's done, which is what inspired me to do this Blog...
Obviously the things we've put out may not stay where they are, but if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please just say so!!

Hope you like the pictures and watch this space...
